A famous photograph by the American travel photographer Burton Holmes shows a beach in Biarritz, France, the "Monte Carlo of the Atlantic Coast" in the 1920s, filled with small, parasol-shaped changing tents, set against the grand architecture of the main promenade. The Biarritz Collection focuses on the fifties, when the town of Biarritz, France was discovered by surfers, and celebrities. Labourd is a cheerful 1950s print featuring a colourful graphic sunflower on white pique. The motif is repurposed on monochrome jacquard. Arnaga has a series of large and small polka dots whose undefined edges look hand-painted, while Biscay is a colourful embroidered Sangallo lace with a modern combination of dots and dune flower motifs. Colours across the collection are summery yellow, sand, Atlantic blues and greens with a backdrop of dazzling white.
